ABOUT
The cards
What is it?
"Lila's Cards - Can You Edit Your Life With Better Decisions" was created in 2019, and finalised in 2020.
It consists of a traditional deck of 52 playing cards with a modern twist.
The cards target 14-30 year olds in the UK and look at some of the trends and issues they may face. Each card contains a scenario inviting the participant to explore and reflect on the topic presented. These subjects include healthy relationships, substance misuse, mental health, drug -related offences, knife crime, 'gang' culture, offending behaviour, violence against women and girls, and so-called 'street culture' mentality across London and the UK.

What is the aim?
There are two aims: Firstly, to support professionals who work with young people and adults involved in criminal activity in their key-work sessions.
The cards provide the platform to challenge perspectives whilst encouraging informed decision-making. They allow for an interactive engagement to take place, work great as an ice-breaker and permit for the support worker to make an assessment of the young person's journey and mindset.
The cards work well for organisations working in the community as well as in prison.
The second aim is to encourage families and friends to introduce these topics to one another, especially amongst young adults. Unfortunately, some families' involvement with statutory agencies isn't always a positive experience, so hopefully these cards can help with some in-house thought-provoking education.
The important bit
When it comes to crime, everyone has an opinion.
This is understandable, but we have to be mindful that many people speak from an emotionally-led perspective rather than expertise and experience.
To avoid a biased response, Lila's Cards gathers different sources of information, ranging from lived-experience testimonies, academic research, news articles, statistics and official legislation, available through an extensive guidance which will be sent to your email when you purchase a pack.
The aim of the game is to educate and avoid misconceptions, not to feed into stereotypes, so please follow the guidance.
Please remember: if a young person makes a disclosure, or if you are made aware of someone at risk, being abused, or in a vulnerable position, you must seek advice and/or report it, if it is safe for you to do so.
Duty of care is everyone's business !

ABOUT
The person
I have extensive experience working in the Criminal Justice System supporting young people and adults, offenders and ex-offenders for years. I've worked in both female and male prisons, hospitals schools and pupil referral units, and the wider community.
I've also delivered training to various organisations and service providers.
I've experienced working in local authorities as well as the third sector, in the remits of family support, substance misuse, child sexual and criminal exploitation, gang-related conflicts, county lines, offending behaviour, education, training and employment for ex-offenders, knife and gun crime, mediation and restorative justice.
I added to my existing knowledge and experience and developed many resources along the way.
During my work, I observed a gap between our communities and statutory services, and misinformation on either side.
I wanted to create a relatable and accessible resource to help professionals and our communities in a friendly and informed way, and developed "Lila's Cards - Can You Edit Your Life With Better Decisions?" .
Thanks for your support.
